A person who caught illegal fish in Syrdarya region has been fined, as reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

It was noted that a recent raid conducted by state inspectors of the Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Syrdarya Region in Khavos district revealed that citizen T.Kh. had caught 27 fish of four different species from a ditch flowing through the district, with nine of these fish exceeding the standard size (5 kg). This resulted in damage to the local wildlife amounting to 14 million 960 thousand sums.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers' decision dated February 9, 2024, "On Approving the Rules for Fishing in Natural Water Bodies of the Republic of Uzbekistan," individuals are permitted to catch fish weighing up to 5 kilograms per day in natural water bodies for sport and hobby purposes.

An administrative report was filed against the offender under Article 90, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan. T.Kh. was fined 15 times the base calculation amount, totaling 5 million 100 thousand sums. He is required to pay a total of 20 million 60 thousand sums (including fines and damages) for his actions.

For information, the Ministry of Ecology and regional departments regularly conduct raids to combat illegal hunting. Such violations result in legal liability.

For reference, earlier in Bukhara, an individual who caught fish listed in the Red Book was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
