Two university graduates were caught stealing 177 million soums from an ATM in the Syrdarya region, as reported by the "Bu Kun" program.
The incident occurred in Mirzaabad district, where the students conspired to carry out the theft at night. To avoid detection, they covered their faces with t-shirts and wore gloves. Armed with the necessary tools, they broke into the ATM and stole the money.
The Mirzaabad district criminal court handled the case, finding the two students guilty of theft under Article 169, Part 2 of the Criminal Code. They were sentenced to 4 years in prison.
This incident follows a similar theft earlier in Urganch, Khorezm region, where a 34-year-old man was arrested for stealing money from an ATM. In that case, authorities found the ATM's seal broken and its safe doors open.
