A deputy head of the "Bukhara Water Supply" JSC department has been detained in the Bukhara region for attempting to extort 15 million sums from a businessman, as reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the report, during an operation aimed at protecting the rights of business entities, A.R., the deputy head of the subscriber department at "Bukhara Water Supply" JSC, conducted an inspection on the legality of drinking water use in a building owned by individual entrepreneur A.Kh. The official misled the manager, O.Z., telling him that 15 million sums would be required to cover a loss stated in the act. A.R. was apprehended with material evidence while receiving 14.9 million sums from O.Z. during the operation.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 168 of the Criminal Code (fraud), and the investigation is ongoing.

It is worth noting that earlier, in Tashkent's Uchtepa district, an assistant to the mayor was arrested with material evidence after receiving $30,000 in exchange for securing a 210 m² plot of land through auctions and registering it in the name of a citizen seeking to build four shops in the district.
