34083The Swiss Embassy in Uzbekistan has reported an increase in cases involving fake job offers and counterfeit work permits for Switzerland. Both the embassy and the Migration Agency have issued warnings to the public about this concerning trend.
“Ladies and gentlemen, here at the Swiss Embassy in Tashkent, we frequently hear about fraud cases, including false job offers in Switzerland and fake work permits being issued to claim employment there. If you are living in Uzbekistan and seeking work in Switzerland, protect yourself from falling victim to scams,” stated Switzerland’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Konstantin Obolenskiy.
The ambassador advised that individuals be extremely cautious when receiving job offers. He emphasized the importance of verifying the authenticity of the offer by directly contacting the potential employer in Switzerland.
“Take note: fraudsters may pose as company representatives and create fake documents in the name of companies or even Swiss authorities. Therefore, use multiple sources to ensure that you are communicating directly with the company offering the job in Switzerland.
Very importantly: under no circumstances should you make or transfer payments! If a job offer is genuine, the employer is responsible for obtaining the work permit. To apply for a work visa, you will need to personally apply to the Regional Consular Center at the Swiss Embassy in Moscow—not to the Embassy in Tashkent!
If you believe you have fallen victim to such a crime or been in contact with scammers, we strongly recommend reporting it to local law enforcement authorities,” the ambassador added.
For those seeking legal and safe employment abroad, the Migration Agency and its regional branches, as well as licensed private employment agencies, can assist.
