Uzhydromet issues urgent warning

Mudflows and flooding may occur in foothill and mountainous areas of Uzbekistan due to expected rainfall on June 2-5 this year, Uzhydromet reported.

According to the agency, the risk applies to the following areas:

  • In Kashkadarya region: Yakkabag, Dekhkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi and Guzar districts;
  • In Surkhandarya region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan and Muzrabot districts;
  • In Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Koshrabot, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jomboy and Ishtikhan districts;
  • In Navoi region: Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimekh and Karmana districts;
  • In Jizzakh region: Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaaral, Sharof Rashidov, Forish and Yangiobod districts;
  • In Tashkent region: Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Urtachirchik and Yukorichirchik districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk;
  • In Namangan region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chartak, Chust, Namangan and Yangikurgan districts;
  • In Fergana region: Sokh, Shakhimardan, Fergana and Besharik districts;
  • In Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad and Markhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad.

Residents of foothill and mountainous areas, vacationers and drivers traveling through mountainous areas are urged to take precautions.

Rainwater may accumulate in some parts of the country, which could lead to flooding.
