Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets with Chinese delegation

On December 5, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Long Yuxiang, Chairman of the China International Communications Group (CICG), and held meetings with heads of leading Chinese companies. The meeting was reported by the president’s press service.

The sides discussed further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China in the new era, as well as deepening cultural and humanitarian ties. It was noted that the center has made a significant contribution to expanding Uzbekistan’s multifaceted cooperation with China.

A number of joint projects have been implemented in infrastructure development, investment, and green industry. Projects worth more than 1 billion dollars are currently being developed in the fields of geology and agriculture. The parties also emphasized the importance of continuing active exchanges in education, science, culture, and tourism. Founded in 1984, the center has established cultural, scientific, and educational relations with more than 160 countries and operates three international representative offices.

President Mirziyoyev also met with the heads of major Chinese companies. During the talks, the parties discussed expanding practical cooperation and advancing mutually beneficial joint projects aimed at introducing modern technologies and engineering solutions in the energy sector.

Growing interest among Chinese companies in implementing projects in Uzbekistan was noted with satisfaction. This year alone, Uzbekistan plans to attract more than 15 billion dollars in direct investment from China, while the total portfolio of joint projects has reached nearly 90 billion dollars.

Energy was highlighted as a key area of cooperation. More than 30 projects worth over 9 billion dollars with a total capacity of around 10 gigawatts are being implemented with Chinese partners. Today, an additional 14 projects worth nearly 2 billion dollars were launched.

During his meeting with Zhou Yanlong, President of China Datang Corporation, discussions focused on expanding existing photovoltaic stations, constructing new ones, and developing additional energy storage facilities. Support was expressed for the company’s proposals on personnel training, establishing a research laboratory, and introducing renewable energy technologies in agriculture and livestock sectors.

In talks with Xu Liu, head of China Energy Engineering Corporation, the joint efforts to construct solar power plants and energy storage systems across Uzbekistan were praised. The importance of advancing projects in renewable energy and high-voltage transmission networks was underscored.

Meng Qinglin, Chairman of Sinoma Energy, briefed the president on progress in constructing a wind power plant and a facility to localize blade production for wind turbines. The parties also exchanged views on the company’s technological solutions for waste treatment in the chemical and construction industries. The need to accelerate work on these projects was emphasized.

With Nan Yi, CEO of Universal Energy, discussions focused on speeding up the construction of wind power plants in various regions of Uzbekistan.

Kan Hubiao, Chairman of the Board of China General Technology, discussed effective operation of the newly launched cogeneration plant. An agreement was reached on expanding the company's investment activities in Uzbekistan.

President Mirziyoyev expressed support for the plans of Miao Zechun, CEO of Poly Changda Engineering, to build an energy storage system next year as a logical continuation of the solar power plant commissioned today.

Earlier, President Mirziyoyev received delegations led by Suhail Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Alparslan Bayraktar, Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources; and Taalaibek Ibraev, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Energy.
