Chess Olympiad silver medalist expresses disappointment over lack of rewards

Nodira Nodirjonova, who won a silver medal on the 5th board in the 45th World Chess Olympiad, expressed her disappointment in the media over not receiving a car or cash prize.
"Of course, I am sad that the female chess players were not given a car. The participants of the Summer Olympics and Paralympics were well rewarded. It was not easy for me to earn the silver medal; I gave all my strength and energy," said Nodirjonova.
Notably, a 2022 Presidential Decree stipulates that athletes who win medals at the World Chess Olympiad are entitled to rewards. According to this decree, a silver medalist should receive a prize equivalent to a thousand times the base calculation. However, Nodirjonova mentioned she had not been given any prize money or a car.
