The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has urged media representatives and bloggers not to re-discuss issues that were resolved in the past, warning that doing so may cause unnecessary concern among the public. The statement was made by ministry spokesperson Ahror Burkhanov.
According to Burkhanov, some matters that had already been addressed have recently resurfaced in the media and online, creating confusion and anxiety. He called on bloggers and journalists to focus their discussions on current and relevant developments.
“Recently, we have observed that some bloggers and social media users are revisiting issues that were previously resolved. Such an approach can, of course, cause unnecessary confusion and concern in society. Dear media representatives and active bloggers! Your voice, your honest opinion, and the topics you cover play an important role in our society. Therefore, we ask you to raise issues that are relevant and truly important today,” the ministry’s statement read.
The spokesperson also called for closer cooperation between the media, bloggers, and government institutions.
“One of the main tasks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our diplomatic and consular missions abroad is to protect the rights and interests of our citizens. In this regard, we are always responsible and committed to our mission. Therefore, complementary cooperation between state agencies, the media, and active bloggers is especially important,” the statement added.
It is worth noting that on September 7, videos circulated on social media showing the alleged confiscation of passports from Uzbek citizens working in Russia. The ministry clarified that this incident occurred last year and has already been resolved.
