13240On July 12, a video featuring several Uzbek cinema and pop stars complaining about the poor conditions of a passenger train, including a malfunctioning cooling system and sand falling from the roof, went viral on social media. In response to the incident, “O‘ztemiryo‘lyo‘lovchi” JSC issued a statement.
According to the statement, a group of artists had embarked on a journey by train, purchasing tickets for a compartment with air conditioning. However, there was no air conditioning, and the compartment was extremely hot. As a result, actor Alisher Uzoqov suffered a nosebleed.
“O‘ztemiryo‘lyo‘lovchi” JSC explained that the passenger carriage in question was built in 1991 and had undergone regular technical maintenance as scheduled. The cooling system installed in this carriage, according to technical specifications, loses its cooling efficiency when the external air temperature exceeds 40 degrees.
"Due to the current anomalous hot weather across our country, some carriages have experienced malfunctions in their cooling systems. The train in the video encountered temperatures above 40 degrees during the journey, causing the cooling system's compressor to fail and the carriage to remain uncooled. After the train arrived at Tashkent-South station, an additional properly functioning carriage was attached, and passengers were transferred to this carriage," the statement read.
Additionally, “O‘ztemiryo‘lyo‘lovchi” mentioned that efforts are being made to address issues related to the cooling systems, interior, and electrical systems of passenger carriages manufactured in the 20th century. They are rapidly installing quality technical equipment and modernizing the carriages in stages. Over the past year, 27 new passenger carriages meeting modern standards have been purchased.
