In the Bekabad District of Tashkent Region, law enforcement officers discovered 600 grams of opium in the possession of a 53-year-old man traveling as a passenger in a Cobalt vehicle. The State Security Service reported the incident.

According to the information, the individual resides in Tashkent. He reportedly purchased the narcotic substance from a 40-year-old acquaintance living in Bekabad for 5,000 US dollars and 5 million soums. Following this, оператив measures were continued.

As a result of further operations, officers seized 1 kilogram and 47 grams of opium from the Bekabad-based drug dealer’s residence. In addition, 335 grams of opium were confiscated from two other individuals connected to the crime.

Investigations revealed that the narcotic substances had been smuggled into Uzbekistan from Tajikistan.

Criminal cases have been initiated against the suspects under Article 246, Part 2 (Smuggling) and Article 273, Part 5 (Illegal production, acquisition, storage, and sale of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances with intent to distribute) of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code.

For reference, since January 20 of this year, the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been jointly conducting large-scale operational and investigative measures across the country aimed at stabilizing the criminal situation and combating organized crime and drug trafficking.

Earlier, it was reported that an individual known as “Eshon,” who was involved in street hooliganism, had been detained in Namangan.
