Students of higher education institutions in Samarkand granted vacation

8819In connection with the first "Central Asia - European Union" summit in Samarkand on April 3-4, some higher education institutions in the city will have a short-term academic vacation, according to Nazokat Abdukunduzova, press secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation. She confirmed this information to QALAMPIR.UZ.
The following higher education institutions will be on academic break from April 1-5:
1. Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov
2. Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages
3. Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service
4. "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage
5. Samarkand Branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies
6. Samarkand State Medical University
7. Uzbek-Finnish Pedagogical Institute
Classes at these institutions will resume on Monday, April 7.
For your information, the "Central Asia - European Union" summit will be held in Samarkand on April 3-4. European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will travel to Uzbekistan to attend the summit. The event will be chaired by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and will be attended by the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Additionally, the first Samarkand Climate Forum will take place on April 4-5 at the Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center. The forum is expected to host leaders of Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as representatives from the European Union, the UN, international financial institutions, and leading environmental organizations.
It was previously reported that access to the city of Samarkand will be temporarily restricted during the summit.
