9 billion soums in damage are caused to the archaeological site in Samarkand

3517As a result of destruction and excavation of several archaeological monuments in the Urgut district of Samarkand region, it was determined that 9 billion soums worth of damage was inflicted on these historical objects. This information was reported by the Information Service of the General Prosecutor's Office.
During the systematic monitoring event, which aimed at the protection and preservation of historical monuments and was conducted by the prosecutor's office, 163 cubic meters of land from the archaeological monument "Tolkyrtepa-1" located in the "Mingtepa" neighborhood of Urgut district were excavated using special equipment. It was revealed that a significant amount of damage, equivalent to 4 billion soums, was caused to the site.
Additionally, a total of 5 billion soums in damage resulted from the partial destruction of the medieval sites "Teshiktepa" located in the "Quyiqishloq" neighborhood, "Kulqishloqtepa-2" in the "Dehkhanabad" neighborhood, and "Mozortepa" in the "Ogahiy" neighborhood of the same district.
As a response to these findings, a criminal case has been initiated, and investigative actions are currently underway.
The Prosecutor General's Office considers these criminal cases as serious offenses according to the law, and the guilty parties may face imprisonment for up to 7 years as punishment.
