Samarkand school deputy director faces punishment after altercation with student (video)

A video circulating on social media has shown the deputy director for academic affairs of School No. 26 in the Narpay district of Samarkand raising his hand to a student, leading to a response from the Samarkand Regional Department of Preschool and School Education.

The incident occurred during the second period of the 8th "A" class when a conflict arose over the absence of a notebook belonging to student X.A. The video captures the deputy director, identified as M.Sh., in the altercation. Following a thorough investigation by the regional education department, it was concluded that the deputy director’s actions were in violation of school conduct regulations.

As a result of this gross misconduct, the deputy director was subjected to disciplinary action, specifically a “reprimand” (haifsan) punishment, based on the relevant order from the director of the school. His actions were found to be in breach of Articles 8 and 21 of the Law "On Education" and Clause 13 of Chapter 2 of the Order of the Minister of Preschool and School Education No. 282, dated August 31, 2023, regarding the conduct of educational staff.

The Samarkand Regional Department of Preschool and School Education has emphasized the importance of maintaining respect and professionalism in school settings and reaffirmed its commitment to taking swift action against any violations of students’ rights.

It’s worth noting that earlier, a similar case occurred in the Oqqurgan district of the Tashkent region, where a teacher was also punished for physically assaulting a student.
