2 billion soum electricity theft by farm sparks criminal case in Samarkand

A farm involved in the theft of electricity worth nearly 2 billion soums has been exposed in the Ishtikhan district of the Samarkand region. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the report, the head of the "M.G.M" family enterprise, located in the "Qaraquyli" neighborhood of the Ishtikhan district, Kh.Yo., unlawfully connected the company's equipment to the power grid on the ground floor of the building. As a result, the farm illegally consumed 2 million kWh of electricity, valued at 1.8 billion soums.

Following the discovery, a criminal case was initiated against Kh.Yo. under Part 4, Clause "a" of Article 169 of the Criminal Code. The individual was detained by procedural regulations.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first instance of electricity theft reported in the region. Previously, a mining farm in the Ishtikhan district was found to have illegally consumed electricity worth 28.8 billion soums.
