On April 16 of this year, a fatal road accident occurred in the Toyloq district of the Samarkand region, claiming the lives of a driver and three passengers at the scene, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It is reported that at approximately 04:30 local time, while navigating the D-069 road in the “Adas” MFY area, a Cobalt vehicle plunged into an artificially created depression in the road surface. The fall resulted in severe damage to the vehicle’s wheels, causing the driver to lose control and the car to veer into a roadside ditch. As a consequence, both the driver and the three passengers suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot.
Investigations later revealed that the asphalt on the affected road segment had been cut using special equipment by the Toyloq District Road Usage Unit. This unauthorized modification destroyed the integrity of the pavement and, due to inadequate repair preparations, the required road signs were never installed.
In connection with this incident, criminal proceedings have been initiated against the responsible officials of the Toyloq District Road Usage State Institution under Article 269, Part 3, Clause “a” of the Criminal Code. Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigations into the matter.
It is also worth noting that a similar incident was reported previously in the Fergana region, where a Nexia-3 driver mistakenly entered the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with a Tico vehicle that claimed the life of the Tico driver.
