13009In Samarkand, eight people have been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of an eighth-grade student. Hayat Shamsutdinov, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office, provided details on the case.
The incident reportedly occurred on October 2, 2024, and was brought to the attention of the prosecutor’s office on October 6, when the minor informed authorities of the assault and requested legal action.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a case manager from the Koshrabot district prosecutor's office was implicated in the incident. As a result, this individual was dismissed from their position on October 30 by order of the regional prosecutor.
Following initial inquiries and medical and forensic examinations, the prosecutor’s office in Ishtikhan district opened a criminal case on October 31 under Article 119 of the Criminal Code, addressing the use of force in sexual assault. The case was then handed over to the internal affairs body for further investigation.
As the investigation progressed, nine suspects were identified, leading to the arrest of eight individuals, including the dismissed prosecutor’s office employee. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspect. The criminal case remains under strict supervision, with authorities continuing their investigation.
