Carbon monoxide poisoning claims two lives at Samarkand mine

15974Two individuals died while digging for gold in the Pakhtachi district of the Samarkand region. The incident was confirmed by Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, to QALAMPIR.UZ.
According to initial reports, on the evening of January 9, a group of five people was working at the "Qoraquton" mining deposit when they were exposed to gas from a generator. Two individuals succumbed to the poisoning at the scene, while three others were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning. The survivors were admitted to the district central hospital at approximately 3:30 a.m. on January 10.
A forensic medical examination has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death for the two victims. Meanwhile, the Pakhtachi District Prosecutor's Office has launched a preliminary investigation into the incident.
