40008In the Samarkand region, a woman was violently attacked by her late husband’s family members while standing with relatives in a large yard. This incident, reported by the "Ne Molchi" project, occurred after her husband, a Tajik citizen, passed away six months ago, leaving her to care for their three minor children.
Following the husband’s death, the mother-in-law conspired with relatives to force the bride and her children out of their home, which had been transferred to the husband through a gift agreement. This property was intended to pass to the children according to the husband’s will. However, the situation became increasingly dangerous for the bride, who is also a citizen of Tajikistan.
"As a Tajik citizen, the bride was required to reside where she was registered, which was at her mother-in-law’s home. Failure to comply could lead to her deportation from Uzbekistan, separating her from her children," the report states.
To adhere to Uzbek laws, the bride sought permission to move and requested a protection order due to ongoing conflicts. However, on the day of the attack, her husband’s family members assaulted her in response to a court ruling that allowed her entry into the yard.
Inquiries made by QALAMPIR.UZ to the Samarkand region's Department of Internal Affairs yielded no official response, as representatives aimed to prevent further escalation of this family dispute.
This incident follows a recent case in the Kashkadarya region, where a man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for setting his wife on fire in front of their children after accusing her of infidelity.
