As of April 15, 2025, public transport fares in Samarkand city have been revised. This change was announced by the Samarkand Regional Transport Department.

The fare adjustment was introduced following a decision by the regional governor to promote the use of electronic payment systems, implement differentiated tariffs, and improve the quality of public transport services.

Under the new system, passengers traveling within the city by bus, electric bus, or tram are required to pay 3,000 UZS when using cash. However, fares are reduced to 2,000 UZS for those paying via bank cards or unified transport cards (ATTO).

The report also mentions that specific tariffs have been established for various groups, including the general population, pensioners, persons with disabilities, students, and individuals entitled to free access to public transport.

Previously, passengers in Samarkand paid 2,000 UZS per trip for both cash and card payments, while using a transport card cost 1,600 UZS.

It is worth noting that as of January 1, 2025, cash payments were abolished for buses in Tashkent city. From that date, public transport fares (including buses and the metro) in the capital were set at 3,000 UZS per trip for cash payments. Payments made via electronic systems, such as transport or bank cards, remained unchanged at 1,700 UZS. All buses in the city discontinued accepting cash.
