A citizen has been detained in the Samarkand region while attempting to smuggle ancient coins to Turkey. This was reported by the Customs Committee.

According to the report, customs officers at Samarkand International Airport discovered that a passenger traveling to Istanbul was trying to illegally take two ancient gold coins out of the country.

The coins were identified as 100 kurus and 65 kurus, minted in Turkey in 1923. Their preliminary estimated value is around 15 million soums.
