The Hazorasp District Development Department in the Khorezm Region reported that they euthanized 13 stray dogs using poisoned food. This information was conveyed by the press service of the Hazorasp district administration.

It is worth noting that the residents of the "Zehnli" neighborhood in the district had voiced concerns on social media. They expressed their inability to attend school due to the presence of stray dogs and urged officials to establish special shelters to address the issue.

However, the Hazorasp district's Department of Improvement, responsible for capturing and managing stray animals, chose to euthanize the dogs instead, using a method described as "bringing the head if you ask for it."

On September 4, 2023, employees from the Hazorasp District Development Department's "Catching and Destruction of Stray Wild Animals" division conducted a survey in the Zehnli neighborhood. During the assessment, they identified the presence of stray dogs. The government's report confirmed that thirteen of these stray dogs were euthanized using poisoned food.

Subsequently, the Ekolog.uz channel operating in Uzbekistan accused the beautification workers of violating the law and called for appropriate action to be taken.

In accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers titled "On measures to improve the activities of services related to the capture and containment of stray animals," stray dogs, including those left on the streets and in other public spaces, should be captured and relocated to designated facilities. Environmentalists are urging the authorities to take action against the beautification workers involved in this incident.

We would like to remind our readers that we previously reported instances of animal cruelty in Uzbekistan.
