Following news of a parliamentary inquiry issued to Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Baxtiyor Saidov regarding the protection of Uzbek citizens abroad, the ministry’s press secretary, Ahror Burhonov, has released an official response.

According to Burhonov, the Foreign Ministry consistently prioritizes the protection of Uzbek citizens abroad, regardless of their location. He emphasized that this commitment remains a key focus of the ministry’s activities.

Burhonov noted that Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions and consulates maintain direct communication with relevant authorities in foreign countries to address issues involving citizens.

“Each case is thoroughly examined, and necessary measures are taken to ensure the legal rights and interests of our citizens. The Foreign Ministry regularly informs the public of its activities through monthly briefings,” the statement reads.

Additionally, Burhonov confirmed that the ministry promptly addresses all inquiries and requests related to this field.

Earlier, the “Bodrost” bathhouse in Moscow became the site of a raid conducted by Russia's special-purpose mobile unit (OMON), allegedly targeting migrants. Reports suggest that migrants from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan frequently visited the bathhouse, and Uzbek citizens may have been among those assaulted during the raid. In response, Kyrgyzstan’s authorities held a meeting with Russia’s Ambassador Sergey Vakunov, requesting appropriate measures against Moscow law enforcement officers if the use of force was deemed unjustified. A formal diplomatic note was also submitted. However, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry did not issue a specific statement or provide details about the incident.
