Renowned Greco-Roman wrestler Rustam Assakalov, who concluded his sports career following the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, has been appointed as the head coach of the Uzbekistan national team. This announcement was made by the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC).

According to the source, Assakalov, who has represented Uzbekistan on the international stage for several years, will now oversee the management of the main team. His primary objective is to prepare Uzbek athletes effectively for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Summer Asian Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games.

During his illustrious career, Assakalov proudly represented Uzbekistan in three Olympic Games. His achievements include one silver and one bronze medal at the World Championships, along with three gold, two silver, and two bronze medals at the Continental Championships.
