In a video conference dedicated to strengthening preparations for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and advancing mass sports, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev introduced new initiatives to develop the Olympic and Paralympic movement and enhance the selection system. This was reported by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov.

One key initiative is the establishment of regional branches of the Olympic Committee to prepare for the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

Just as the President heads the National Olympic Committee, regional branches will be headed by regional governors.

Governors, in collaboration with each federation, will develop a special strategy for the Olympic cycle and present it to the National Olympic Committee for approval.

All sports federation heads and regional governors will report on their work and achievements to the Olympic Committee on a monthly basis.

Additionally, it was decided to allocate 300 billion sums for the necessary conditions and infrastructure to prepare athletes for the upcoming Olympics.

The importance of training at least 10 athletes and coaches at the most prestigious foreign sports academies this year was also emphasized.

It is worth recalling that earlier in the meeting, it was noted that the existing potential in the sports sector is not being fully utilized and that governors do not feel responsible for this shortfall.
