The Second Eastern District Military Court in Novosibirsk sentenced 28-year-old Uzbek citizen M.S. (included in the list of terrorists and extremists of the Russian Federation) to nine years in prison for financing terrorism, the regional prosecutor’s office reported.
The court established that the defendant had transferred funds to the account of an acquaintance to support an international organization recognized as a terrorist in the Russian Federation. These funds were subsequently handed over to a member of the organization.
His criminal activity was halted by officers of the Novosibirsk Regional Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia. According to the court’s verdict, the first three years of his sentence will be served in prison, while the remaining term will be carried out in a strict-regime colony. In addition, he was fined 350,000 rubles.
It should be recalled that earlier, a 26-year-old Uzbek migrant working as a taxi driver in the Leningrad region of Russia was reported to be suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl.
