More than 100 Uzbek citizens in critical condition in St. Petersburg, Russia, will be repatriated to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.

The humanitarian operation is being carried out from July 30 to August 30 with the support of Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in St. Petersburg and the Migration Agency as part of the “Repatriation” project.

As part of the campaign, more than 100 citizens in critical condition have been provided with certificates and air tickets to return home. They are scheduled to be escorted to Uzbekistan today, August 18.

In addition, 33 citizens — including Uzbeks held in a temporary detention center for foreign nationals and those in severe financial hardship — received financial assistance.

For reference, on July 30, the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, Uzbekistan launched the nationwide charity campaign “Return to the Homeland,” organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Employment, the Migration Agency, the Family and Women’s Committee, and law enforcement bodies. The initiative, running until August 30, aims to return Uzbek citizens in difficult circumstances abroad and ensure their reintegration at home.

Priority is being given to women and children held in deportation centers in Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, the United States, and South Korea.

It is worth noting that earlier, with the assistance of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan and the Migration Agency, a mother and her young child stranded in Irkutsk, Russia, were also repatriated.
