Recently, 31 unattended children in various regions of the Russian Federation were safely repatriated to Uzbekistan. This development was reported by the Children's Ombudsman.

It was noted that the Representative of the Oliy Majlis on Children's Rights (Children's Ombudsman) reached out to his counterpart, the Children's Ombudsman of the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova. The Representative highlighted that efforts are currently underway to repatriate minors who were left unattended to the Republic of Uzbekistan. In addition, the responsible agencies of Uzbekistan, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have been involved in facilitating the return of these children. The Representative also requested urgent assistance in temporarily placing the children in suitable institutions within the regions of Russia where they currently reside until their return to Uzbekistan could be arranged.

"Following the request from the Children's Ombudsman of Uzbekistan, prompt measures were taken by the Children's Ombudsman of Russia, providing the necessary assistance to ensure that the children were accommodated in comfortable and appropriate conditions in the regions where they were located," the report stated.

On August 25, nine children were returned to Uzbekistan, following the earlier repatriation of 22 children (13 from St. Petersburg, nine from Moscow, eight from Novosibirsk, and one from Kazan) by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It should be noted that a previous group of Uzbek children who had been neglected in Russia were also successfully returned to Uzbekistan.
