On February 26, two minors who had been left without parental care in the Russian Federation were brought back to Uzbekistan with the assistance of employees from the Temporary Detention Center for Juvenile Delinquents of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow. This was reported by the National Agency for Social Protection.

It was noted that one of the children had been taken to Russia based on a power of attorney from his parents. The other had been in labor migration since 2023. At the time, he was a 9th-grade student and traveled to Moscow with his sister’s husband, initially working as a cleaner and later as a dishwasher in a café.

Both minors were placed in the Temporary Detention Center for Juvenile Delinquents following a police raid.

“In this regard, we would like to remind you that a power of attorney allowing children to leave Uzbekistan does not grant legal guardianship rights in another country,” the statement said.

It should be recalled that earlier, with the assistance of diplomats from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan, four minors left without parental care in St. Petersburg, Russia, were also returned home.
