Russia plans to boost gas exports to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on November 27 during a joint press conference with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana.

“Cooperation in the energy sector is progressing systematically. Russian oil is being transported to China via Kazakhstan, and Gazprom is ensuring an uninterrupted gas supply to Kazakhstani consumers. Since last year, Russian gas has been supplied to neighboring Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan, and we will continue to increase these supplies,” said President Putin.

According to Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Russian gas deliveries to Uzbekistan, initiated in October 2023, have already surpassed 5 billion cubic meters. These supplies are part of a two-year agreement between Gazprom and UzGasTrade, signed in 2023 by the leaders of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, enabling the transit of Russian natural gas through Kazakhstan.

Additionally, Russian companies such as Gazprom and LUKOIL are actively involved in developing gas fields in Uzbekistan. The parties have expressed intentions to deepen collaboration in the gas sector, paving the way for expanded cooperation in the coming years.
