A deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Supreme Majlis and head of the “Milliy Tiklanish” Democratic Party faction, Alisher Kadyrov, has announced plans to send a formal request to relevant organizations regarding the safety of Uzbek citizens in Russian airspace. This decision comes in the wake of the recent crash involving an Azerbaijani plane. Kadyrov shared this information on his Telegram channel.
“Is Russian airspace safe? ‘Uzbekistan Airways’ should prioritize the safety of our compatriots. The ‘Milliy Tiklanish’ faction will send a request to the Ministry of Transport and the airline to provide a reasoned explanation on this issue,” he stated.
The announcement follows the December 25 crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane on the Baku-Grozny route. According to the airline, the crash involved 62 passengers and five crew members. Tragically, 38 people lost their lives, while 29 survived.
Subsequently, Azerbaijani parliamentarian Rasim Musabekov claimed that the Russian side should apologize for allegedly shooting down the Azerbaijan Airlines civilian plane with an air defense missile. In response, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for the Russian President, stated that the Kremlin deemed it inappropriate to draw conclusions about the cause of the crash near Aktau until an investigation is completed. Meanwhile, the United States has also pointed fingers at Russia, attributing blame for the tragic incident.
