Portugal national team forward Cristiano Ronaldo spoke about the match against Uzbekistan at the 2026 World Cup, saying his goal is always to help the national team achieve its objectives. He said this in an interview with FIFA after the match on June 23.

In the second round of Group K, the 41-year-old forward scored a brace, contributed to his team’s convincing 5-0 victory and was named player of the match.

Ronaldo became the first footballer in history to score at six World Cups. He also surpassed Eusebio and set Portugal’s national team record for goals scored at World Cups, with 10 goals.

“I am very happy. But the most important thing for me is our hard work and the confidence we showed. The team really performed well and significantly improved its game. As our people say, every bad thing has something good in it. Of course, personally, records are always pleasant for me, but my goal is always to help the national team achieve the tasks set before it,” Ronaldo said.

In the first round, Portugal drew 1-1 with DR Congo. In the final round, Portugal will face Colombia. The match will start on June 28 at 3:30 a.m. Tashkent time.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan played against Portugal yesterday, June 23, and suffered a 5-0 defeat. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 6th minute. In the 39th minute, Ronaldo scored his second goal and completed a brace.
