Aziz Boboev, the Deputy Governor of the Romitan District in the Bukhara region for innovative development, is facing allegations of fraud. The charges were outlined in the schedule of court hearings.

The Romitan District Criminal Court is set to hear the case today, January 7, involving Aziz Khozhikurbanovich Boboev and his brother, Laziz Khozhikurbanovich Boboev.

The brothers face charges under multiple sections of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code:
- Article 168 (Fraud), Part 3, Subparagraphs “b” and “c.”
- Article 228 (Preparation, forgery, sale, or use of documents, stamps, seals, forms), Part 2, Subparagraphs “a” and “b,” and Part 3.

Three individuals have been identified as victims in the case.

Aziz Boboev was appointed Deputy Governor of Romitan District for Innovative Development in March 2024. Previously, he served as an assistant to the Romitan District Mayor in the Hazortut Mahalla Citizens' Assembly, focusing on entrepreneurship development, employment generation, and poverty reduction.

This case follows another high-profile incident in November last year involving the Deputy Mayor of Chirchik City, Tashkent Region. The Chirchik Deputy Mayor was accused of using his official position to influence a land auction, securing 20 hectares of city reserve land. He allegedly received a $2 million advance through his driver in exchange for facilitating ownership rights for 49 years. The land was intended for a $40 million investment in a cluster-type shopping complex.
