Official: Uzbekistan's ambassador to the USA has been confirmed

The Senate approved the candidacy of Furqat Sidikov for the post of Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the USA.  Before this, Sidikov worked as the first deputy minister of foreign affairs.

Furqat Sidikov was born on 7 February 1971 in Tashkent.  In 1993, he graduated from Tashkent State Technical University.  He worked as a chief specialist at the UzDaewoo Electronics joint venture (1993−1995), was an employee at the Institute of Strategic and Regional Studies under the President, a senior researcher, and a leading researcher (1995−2002, 2007−2011).

He also worked as an attaché (2002-2007), first secretary of this embassy (2011-2015), and ambassador of Uzbekistan in Pakistan (2015-2020) at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the USA.

Since 14 November 2022, he has been working as the first deputy minister of foreign affairs.  He speaks Russian and English.  He is married and has four children.
