Official: Lola Karimova divorces her husband

Lola Karimova’s daughter also attacks her: ’’Came to Tashkent, did not visit my grandmother’’

Lola Karimova, the youngest daughter of the First President of Uzbekistan, has announced that she has officially divorced her husband, Timur Tillyaev. She wrote this in a comment on her Instagram post.

Yesterday, June 22, 47-year-old Lola Karimova posted a photo of herself in an elevator holding peonies and wrote:

“I bought myself flowers. I chose myself. Officially divorced. And I am happy. Ahead lies an inner life that truly feels like mine.”

For reference, the First President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, died on September 2, 2016, after an acute cerebrovascular accident, or stroke, which led to irreversible changes in the brain and multiple organ failure. After his death, the family’s youngest daughter, Lola Karimova, left all her positions and businesses in Uzbekistan and moved to the United States with her husband and children.

From the United States, she runs the Republican Public Foundation named after Islam Karimov. She also founded the perfume brand The Harmonist.

The eldest daughter in the family, Gulnara Karimova, remains in custody on several charges. One of Karimov’s grandchildren, Maryam Tillyaeva, also lives in Tashkent. She has cut ties with her parents.

Lola Karimova’s husband, Timur Tillyaev, is a major businessman. He is known as one of the large business figures who prefers to stay out of the media spotlight. The Abu Sahiy market, one of Uzbekistan’s largest wholesale trade centers for many years, as well as the international cargo transportation and logistics company of the same name, has been linked to him. After Islam Karimov’s death, it was announced in late 2017 that the market had been transferred to other owners.

He currently mainly manages international business projects abroad, including in logistics, trade and real estate in the United States and Europe.

Lola Karimova and Timur Tillyaev have two daughters and one son. Their eldest daughter, Maryam Tillyaeva, married Russian blogger Amiran Sardarov in 2021 and officially divorced him in 2023.
