Skat Mirziyoyev lays flowers at the monument to Islam Karimov

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a wreath at the monument to Uzbekistan’s First President, Islam Karimov, in Tashkent on January 30. The Presidential Press Service reported this.

During the commemorative ceremony, it was emphasized with deep respect and recognition that Islam Karimov’s contributions to the formation of Uzbekistan as an independent state and the establishment of the foundations of statehood were invaluable.

The ceremony included the recitation of verses from the Qur’an and prayers. Participants recalled the First President’s activities in the interests of the nation as well as his personal qualities.

The event took place at the Islam Karimov Scientific and Educational Memorial Complex and was attended by representatives of the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, the Presidential Administration, the government, figures from the fields of science and culture, and members of the public.

Flowers were also laid at monuments to the First President in the cities of Samarkand and Karshi as a sign of respect for his memory.

For reference, at the initiative and with the support of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the memory of the First President has been perpetuated, including the construction of his mausoleum in Samarkand. Marking January 30, the date of Islam Karimov’s birth, has become a national tradition.
