Putin sends his new ambassador to Uzbekistan

The newly appointed ambassador of Russia to Uzbekistan, Aleksey Yerkhov, presented copies of his credentials to Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. The minister reported this on his Telegram channel.

According to Saidov, they exchanged views on strengthening strategic partnership and alliance relations between the two countries.

’’We will work closely to advance our bilateral agenda and expand cooperation in all areas. We wish the ambassador great success in his diplomatic mission in our country,’’ Saidov wrote.

Aleksey Erkhov was born on October 28, 1960, in Moscow. In 1983, he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and began his diplomatic career the same year. Between 1983 and 2000, Erkhov served at Russian embassies in Morocco, Egypt, and Israel. From 2000 to 2003, he worked in the Presidential administration of Russia as Head and Deputy Head of the Department for the preparation of foreign policy events. Subsequently, from 2003 to 2006, he served as Counselor at the Russian Embassy in Syria, and from 2006 to 2009, he was Deputy Director of the Secretariat Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 2009 and 2015, Erkhov was the Consul General of Russia in Istanbul. From 2015 to 2017, he headed the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Foreign Ministry. From 2017 until 2025, he served as Russia’s ambassador to Turkey, during which he was awarded the Order of Friendship.

It is worth noting that Oleg Malginov completed his mission as Russia’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan in June of this year. On September 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Aleksey Erkhov as the new ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Russia to Uzbekistan.
