3999Today, on October 16, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili, who is in the country within the framework of hosting the 25th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Samarkand. This information was reported by the President's press service.
It is reported that the meeting discussed the issues of further expanding multifaceted cooperation with the specialized UN institute to enhance Uzbekistan's tourism potential.
"The President stated that joint efforts to promote the Silk Road tourism brand, including the development of tourism infrastructure, the popularization of tourist destinations in Uzbekistan, and the implementation of programs and projects aimed at training qualified personnel, were highly appreciated," according to the press service's message.
It is also noted that the anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly took place in Uzbekistan, and the opening of the International Tourism Academy and the thematic office "Silk Road" in the city of Samarkand were important practical outcomes of this cooperation.
Furthermore, it is reported that investment and educational forums will be held within the General Assembly, featuring the participation of leading companies in the field of tourism, higher education institutions, and organizations. Specific contracts and agreements for the implementation of joint programs and projects in these areas are expected to be signed at the conclusion of these forums. At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to develop a joint "road map" for the implementation of the main results of the anniversary session.
