Those who stole gas and electricity worth 614 million sums were identified in Samarkand

Cases of illegal use of energy resources were uncovered in the Urgut, Samarkand, Jomboy, and Okdarya districts of the Samarkand region, according to the Department of Combating Economic Crimes.

It was revealed that individuals operating in the Urgut and Samarkand districts, H.E. and S.M., had illegally connected a commercial store and a bakery to the public electricity network for commercial purposes. As a result, a total of 230 million sums worth of electricity was used unlawfully.

In Jomboy district, S.Z., the head of a family enterprise, connected a public catering establishment to the gas network for commercial purposes, using natural gas worth 191.2 million sums without authorization.

Furthermore, in Okdarya district, M.Sh., the head of a farm, directly connected to the power grid and illegally used electricity worth 192.8 million sums.

Criminal cases have been initiated under Article 169 (theft) of the Criminal Code, and investigations are ongoing.

Earlier, an LLC in Tashkent was discovered to have illegally used electricity worth 7.5 billion sums by tampering with an electric meter. Relevant documents have been prepared and forwarded to law enforcement authorities.
