Enterprises in Tashkent city that negatively impact the environment will be relocated to vacant land in Tashkent region. This was announced on September 11 during a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the effectiveness of reforms in Tashkent region and upcoming plans.

It was noted that over the past eight years, $10 billion in regional investments and $8 billion in sectoral investments have been made in the region, leading to the launch of about 10,000 industrial, trade, and service enterprises.

In the last three years, the number of enterprises with an annual turnover of more than 10 billion soums increased 1.8 times, reaching 1,700. The number of enterprises with a turnover exceeding 100 billion soums rose from 137 to 193. As a result, while annual exports previously did not reach $1 billion, this figure was exceeded in just eight months of this year.

Chinese investors are creating industrial parks worth $2.1 billion in the region. In addition, presidential resolutions have been adopted for the accelerated development of the region between 2025 and 2027, with more than 40 trillion soums allocated for their implementation. These measures are expected to reduce unemployment and poverty, with projections to lower the unemployment rate to 4.5 percent by the end of the year.

A “Reforms Headquarters” has also been created in Tashkent region to coordinate development efforts. At the meeting, new projects and plans prepared by the headquarters were presented.

The President instructed ministries and departments to ensure smooth implementation of the projects and resolve outstanding issues. In particular, two new substations will be built in Nurafshan, Almalyk, and Chirchik to support industrial enterprises with foreign investment.

Opportunities were highlighted to establish import-substituting automotive spare parts production in Bekabad, develop food and textile enterprises in Akkurgan, and create tourism and trade centers along the Karasuv Canal in Akhangaron, Angren, and Orta Chirchik.

Overall, investment projects worth $2.5 billion have been developed in the region, expected to create over 11,000 jobs and generate $434 million in export capacity.

“Tashkent region has great potential in both industry and agriculture. Most importantly, it surrounds our capital, the largest consumer and services market in the country. By fully utilizing this opportunity, we can multiply investment, export, and employment indicators,” President Mirziyoyev said.

At the meeting, it was announced that environmentally harmful enterprises in the capital would be relocated to sites allocated in Tashkent region for Tashkent Invest and the city’s industrial zones directorate.

The President also tasked authorities with connecting all districts of Tashkent region to the capital by high-speed electric trains. This is expected to boost demand for housing, infrastructure, and services, while allowing residents to commute easily to Tashkent for work.

Currently, 263 makhallas in the region lack specialization in production or services. To address this, the development of horticulture, lemon and grape growing, raspberry and broccoli cultivation, and seedling production is planned. The Agrostar company will assist with seeds, seedlings, and guaranteed purchases.

Tashkent region, rich in land and water resources, was instructed to expand agricultural production, processing, and exports. The goal is to fully utilize local opportunities and turn makhallas into areas free from unemployment and poverty.

It is worth noting that earlier plans were announced to build a new international airport in Tashkent region, with 1,309.76 hectares of land allocated from Orta Chirchik and Kuyi Chirchik districts.
