During a meeting presided over by the President, it was announced that the mayors of Tashkent city and Tashkent region will each have one deputy responsible for construction and communal management. The discussion focused on priorities in housing, construction, communal economy, transport, and ecology.

The meeting highlighted the need for digitalizing the transport system, involving the private sector in road construction and operation, addressing the longer time taken for goods transportation by railway compared to cars, and the absence of scientifically grounded proposals to curb air pollution, revealing delays in relevant ministries and agencies.

Deputies of ministers and governors within the complex with slow plans and results will be dismissed, with specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set for them. Subsequently, they will be hired on a one-year contract basis.

The decision was made to assign one deputy responsible for construction and communal management to the mayors of Tashkent city and Tashkent region.

The President identified urgent tasks in housing and construction for the ministries and agencies within the complex.

As part of the investment program this year, the construction of 1,637 infrastructure facilities is planned. However, it was noted that sector or regional leaders have not established a model system for the effective use of budget funds and ensuring construction quality.

Instances of misappropriation, looting, and theft of budget funds allocated for constructions were highlighted.

The conditions forcing some construction entrepreneurs to operate covertly or engage in such practices were acknowledged.
