Leader of the Ecological Party meets electorate representatives in Moynaq

2203On September 28, Abdushukur Khamzayev, Chairman of the Central Council of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with the party's electorate in the Moynaq district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
The meeting included representatives from the Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Forestry Agency, Department of Agriculture and Water Management, as well as individuals from the tourism industry, intellectuals, youth, and women.
During the meeting, Khamzayev outlined the Ecological Party's pre-election program, emphasizing that the proposed initiatives were crafted based on the electorate's wishes. He stressed that these initiatives aim to ensure the environmental rights of all Uzbek citizens and to address issues directly affecting the development of various industries tied to ecology.
Key points from the party's pre-election program, particularly focused on mitigating the effects of the Aral Sea tragedy, were highlighted. These include:
- Identifying, monitoring, and preventing diseases caused by environmental issues in arid regions.
- Introducing mechanisms for climate "burden" monitoring and climate accounting.
- Encouraging the development of new plant and animal varieties resistant to climate change and expanding related research.
- Engaging international financial institutions in projects aimed at preserving biodiversity, combating climate change, and preventing desertification in the Aral Sea region.
- Planting desert-friendly vegetation in the Kyzylkum desert to prevent sandstorms and pasture degradation.
- Taking measures to prevent the water level decrease in Sudoche Lake and its surrounding lakes in the Sudoche-Akpetki State Reserve, part of the Ramsar list of wetlands.
- Developing a restoration program for the ecosystem and promoting ecotourism in the Aydar-Arnasoy Lake system.
The importance of collaboration and public oversight to ensure the success of these initiatives was underscored during the meeting.
Party activists also reviewed the work completed in Karakalpakstan over the past five years and reaffirmed their commitment to improving the region's climate as a major party goal.
