2238On October 5, Abdushukur Hamzayev, Chairman of the Central Council of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, addressed voters in Andijan, emphasizing the party's commitment to building a green economy and leaving a clean environment for future generations.
The meeting, held under the slogan “Unite for Nature,” saw the attendance of about 300 voters, including party activists, ecologists, and young people passionate about environmental protection.
The discussions focused on the Ecological Party’s vision for the next five years, with a strong emphasis on preserving the environment, improving public health, transitioning to a green economy, and fostering the development of renewable energy.
Among the key goals outlined by the party were increasing the share of passenger cycling in large cities to 20% by 2030, reducing energy production reliant on environmentally harmful sources by at least 25%, and halving energy consumption in industries through the implementation of energy-saving technologies. Additionally, the Ecological Party aims to double the share of clean, renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan’s energy balance by 2030.
The party also advocates for stronger legal protection for trees and forests. They are calling for a law to prohibit the sale of land with existing tree plantations for construction purposes, a complete ban on transplanting trees older than 10 years, and a procedure for revoking land rights from entrepreneurs who illegally cut down trees for construction. A particular emphasis was placed on the need for an indefinite moratorium on the use of plants listed in the Red Book and the hunting of wild animals, along with a proposal to increase hunting fees by tenfold.
During the meeting, Hamzayev engaged with voters, answering their questions and urging them to support the Ecological Party and its candidates in the upcoming elections, reiterating the importance of voting for a cleaner, greener future.
