A 2000-born Uzbek citizen, S.O., who was wanted internationally for fraud, has been extradited to Uzbekistan following a request from the Uzbek Prosecutor General’s Office, according to Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General’s Office.
Authorities in Azerbaijan located and arrested S.O. in February 2025, after he was charged in Uzbekistan with fraud causing significant financial losses. He was held in custody while legal procedures were carried out.
S.O. was returned to Uzbekistan under the 2002 Convention on Legal Assistance in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters, which governs extradition procedures between the two countries. The transfer was conducted under the supervision of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Justice and its Penitentiary Service convoy.
In April 2025, under the same convention, two other international fugitives (aged 30 and 63) were also extradited to Uzbekistan.
