An Uzbek citizen who was detained in Azerbaijan earlier this year has been extradited to Uzbekistan. The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office reported the transfer.

The individual, identified as O.R., was arrested in Azerbaijan in January 2025 and placed under pretrial detention. According to the report, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan requested his extradition under Article 168, Part 4 ("a" clause) of the Uzbek Criminal Code, which pertains to large-scale fraud. The Azerbaijani authorities approved the request.

Under the Convention on Legal Assistance in Civil, Family, and Criminal Cases signed on October 7, 2002, Azerbaijan ruled in favor of O.R.’s extradition. He was handed over to Uzbekistan’s authorized bodies under the supervision of the Justice Ministry’s penal service convoy.

Earlier this month, Azerbaijan also extradited another wanted Uzbek citizen, 30-year-old A.X., to authorities in Tashkent.
