Members of the “Olympic” football club, which was established as a base team for the national squad with the aim of securing qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics at the initiative of former Uzbekistan national and Olympic team head coach Timur Kapadze, have not received their salaries for six months. The players and coaching staff addressed a video appeal to the Uzbekistan Football Association and the Uzbekistan Professional Football League.
Footballers who played for “Olympic” last season and remain club members, as well as the team’s goalkeeping coach, stated that they have not been paid for six months. They published a video statement on social media asking responsible officials for assistance in resolving the issue.
According to available information, the Uzbekistan Football Association is conducting an inquiry into the situation and is expected to issue an official statement in the coming days.
For reference, the “Olympic” club was founded in 2021. The team competed in the Super League during the 2022, 2023, and 2024 seasons and played in the Pro League last season, finishing at the bottom of the table. Due to financial difficulties, the club will not participate in the Pro League in the upcoming season.
