Uzbekistan names flagbearer for the Olympics

Today, February 6, the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will take place. At this event, Daniil Yeybog, a member of the Uzbekistan short track team, will serve as the delegation’s flagbearer. This was reported by the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

Medet Nazarov will compete in alpine skiing, participating in the slalom and giant slalom events, while Daniil Yeybog will compete in the 500-meter short track event at the Winter Olympics.

Additionally, based on the results of the qualifying cycle, Dmitry Chigirev and Ekaterina Geynish had secured Olympic berths in pairs figure skating. However, Dmitry Chigirev suffered an injury during preparations and was unable to recover in time for the competition. As a result, Uzbekistan’s delegation will participate only in alpine skiing and short track events.

The Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games officially begin today, February 6, and will continue until February 22, 2026.

For reference, the opening ceremony will start at 00:00 Tashkent time on the night of February 7.
