On May 20, a minor who had been left without parental care in Kazakhstan was returned to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the National Agency for Social Protection.

According to the agency, the child had dropped out of school on April 7 and traveled to Kazakhstan with his uncle to help support his family financially.

However, on May 2, the minor was identified in Kazakhstan as being without parental supervision and was placed in a special social services institution.

“Although the child was taken to Kazakhstan under a power of attorney, according to the country’s current legislation, only parents have the right to remove a minor from such institutions,” the agency noted.

In cooperation with the relevant authorities, the child was brought back to Uzbekistan on May 20. He has now been handed over to his legal guardian — his mother. Rehabilitation and social support measures will continue at his place of residence.

For reference, since the beginning of this year, a total of 12 underage Uzbek citizens who were left without parental care have been repatriated from Kazakhstan.

It should be recalled that on May 16, a 2-year-old girl left without parental care was also returned to Uzbekistan from Russia.
