The healthcare, education, and banking systems remain among the most corrupt sectors in Uzbekistan. This was stated by the Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Council Tanzila Norbayeva at the 5 April meeting, according to the reports of QALAMPIR.UZ correspondent.
It was noted at the meeting that the rate of disclosure of corruption-related offenses has increased as a result of the implementation of a number of practical measures to combat corruption-related offenses.
“In 2021, 3,769 criminal cases of corruption against 5,483 people were brought to court. In other words, the number of criminal cases and prosecutions has increased threefold on average.
Every third criminal case initiated in the courts has been committed by officials of health care, education, or banks», – Narbayeva said.
As a result of radical anti-corruption measures, the number of criminal cases brought to the courts has increased by 300 percent in the banking sector, 120 percent in the education sector and 100 percent in the health sector compared to the previous year.
