Individual sentenced to nearly 4 years for establishing illegal dump site

A resident who organized an illegal waste dump in the Quyi Chirchiq district of Tashkent region has been sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison, according to the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

During a raid on the Chirchiq River, authorities discovered that M.D. had been dumping waste in the river area and had built a dam. Despite repeated warnings, he continued to illegally dispose of construction waste.

The court found that he had violated regulations protecting classified and natural areas, organized an unauthorized landfill, and charged fees for waste disposal. His actions resulted in the dumping of 126,433.70 m3 of waste into the river, causing state damages of 3 billion 68 million 206 thousand 171 soums.

Additionally, M.D. violated Article 22 of the Law "On Nature Protection" (regarding waste-related activities) and Article 41 of the Law "On Protected Natural Areas" (concerning water protection zones, coastal regions, and sanitary protection zones).

The court sentenced him to 3 years and 9 months in prison under Article 59 (Sentencing for several crimes) and Article 61 (Rules for calculating the addition of sentences) of the Criminal Code. He is also required to pay 3 billion 68 million 206 thousand 171 soums in damages to the state.

Previously, it was reported that recyclable waste would be purchased from the public.
