Individual who fished in Navoiy caused 1.2 billion soums worth of ecological damage

An individual who illegally caught 218 fish, resulting in 1 billion 240 million soums of environmental damage, was discovered in the Konimekh district of the Navoiy region. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

During a raid in the "Shorkol" neighborhood area of the district, it was discovered that citizen Y.O. had illegally caught 218 fish using a 5000-meter synthetic net in a natural water body. This caused 1 billion 240 million 300 thousand soums in environmental damage.

In response to the incident, an administrative report was filed against the offender under part 4 of Article 90 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which addresses violations of hunting and fishing regulations and other wildlife usage. The collected documents are being forwarded to judicial authorities to recover the damages and enforce appropriate measures.

For reference, according to Law No. 627 of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 8, 2020, titled "On Hunting and Fishing," fishing in natural water bodies is prohibited in all regions of the republic starting from March 10. During the fish spawning season, fishing is banned in the Amudarya and Syrdarya reservoirs from March 10 to May 31, in the Karakalpakstan Republic and Khorezm region reservoirs from April 25 to June 10, and in all other reservoirs from April 16 to May 31.
